The sweater built for hard wear, stiff gales, and whatever else Sunnmøre weather throws at you.
The Devold Original Islender is one of our oldest and most iconic sweaters, introduced in the 1850s. Islender is an old Norwegian word for a knitted sweater. It was originally knitted by mothers and sisters for fishermen and workers along the Norwegian coast, made to hold up against cold, wind, and long days outdoors. Knitted in 100% pure Norwegian wool, prized for its durability and ability to retain heat, the Islender was the one garment people could count on when the weather was at its worst. The dense knit structure provides strong insulation while still breathing and regulating temperature. With its characteristic pattern, the Islender has remained unchanged across generations. It is still worn by people who need warmth. At sea, in the mountains, and out across the open plateau.
